Embodied Insight: How We’ll Arrive

01

Calm the nervous system

A nervous system on high-alert prevents you from touching down into the softer places that need attention. First, you'll learn how to stabilize and find calm anywhere, anytime.

02

Widen the window of tolerance

All of us have different levels of tolerance for stress and difficulty, and all of us can learn to expand our capacity. Next, I'll help you widen your unique window of tolerance.

03

Identify what’s unconscious

Unconscious thoughts and beliefs drive the majority of behavior, and they can wreak havoc on mental health and relationships. Together, we'll identify what's below the surface.

04

Create new patterns

Combining your new skills in stress tolerance and new self understanding, you'll be able to create new patterns of thought and behavior that serve you instead of depleting you.

05

Live values first

When you live by your values, life feels rich and connected. I'll help you map out a new, joyful way of being that comes from this deeply connected place

The Tools We’ll Utilize

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses bi-lateral stimulation (such as moving the eyes side-to-side or tapping with the hands left and right) to help you stay anchored in the present while you process difficult memories. EMDR decreases memory-related emotions and bodily sensations and allows for new learning and insights.

Drawing on Ego State Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), "parts work" enables you to recognize and integrate the many different parts of you. If you've ever heard of working with an "inner child," you've heard about parts work. Parts work helps resolve inner conflict, which typically causes external stress.

ACT

ACT, which is said as one word, stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. With ACT, you will learn to differentiate yourself from your thoughts, feelings, memories, and body sensations (TFMS). You'll learn that you can do what matters and what’s important without having to first get rid of unwanted TFMS. You'll learn to shift your attention to your values and live each day with intention.
Mindfulness teaches us to tune in to the outside world (what we take in through our senses) while also noticing our inside world (our emotions and thoughts). This way of learning to pay attention without judgment creates more joy and calm in our lives, and interrupts the chain reaction of the stress response. Mindfulness will help you unhook from old patterns and become present to your life in a more calm, confident, and loving way.
